The Crisis

The Intersecting Vulnerabilities of Young Women

In under-resourced areas, young women and girls navigate a minefield of systemic risks. From the threat of sexual exploitation and GBVF to period poverty and economic disenfranchisement, their barriers to success are deeply entrenched. Without dedicated safe spaces and targeted mentorship, the cycle of generational poverty and dependency is almost impossible to break. We recognize that true community resilience cannot exist without the safety, empowerment, and leadership of its women.

True community resilience cannot exist without the safety and leadership of its women. Our methodology is tri-fold: first, establish immediate physical and emotional safety; second, provide the educational and hygiene resources necessary to keep girls in school; and third, implement rigorous mentorship that transitions young women from a state of vulnerability to a state of self-advocacy and leadership.

    What We Actually Do

    On-The-Ground Activities

At Isihlangu Foundation, we do not just react to societal challenges; we actively design solutions to prevent them. Our work is driven by a clear manifesto: to protect the vulnerable and equip the next generation with the emotional tools they need to thrive.

    Safe-Space Hubs

Creating secure, female-only environments where girls can gather, study, and speak openly about their challenges without fear of harassment.

    Educator & Parent Training

We do not bypass the community; we train the adults who spend the most time with the youth. We run workshops equipping teachers and caregivers with the tools to handle pediatric emotional crises.

    Resource Distribution

Actively combating period poverty and lack of hygiene resources to ensure young women do not miss school or opportunities due to biological realities.
